My passion is for the mountains and I am fortunate that I have been able to make my carrer following my passion. I am a mountain guide sharing experiences in the mountains with my clients. There is also a lot of time to pursue my personal objective and I currently climb at 8A+ on rock, WI6+ on ice and D12+ in dry-tooling. I live in the valley of Freissinieres in the Ecrins, France premier spot for hard ice climbing and dry-tooling. I have been instrumental in developing this iconic area, putting up many first ascents as well as equipping and promoting the lines.
My path to my carrer started as a youth. I became obsessed with climbing, often training 5 times a week. Quickly I progressed and achieved a high level (8a on site). I started competing both for the region and later nationally and internationally, achieving 5th place in the bouldering world cup in 2001.
Encouraged by some local mountain guides I tired ice climbing and I loved it, I started to climb more in the mountains pushing my level in more remote and engaging places. At 20 In was invited to join the National Mountaineering Team (FFME)
My first carrer in 2005 was for the PGHM (the mountain rescue team). I worked for 10 years providing security for the alpinist in Briancon. During this time I became very involved with a relatively new form of mountains sport, dry-tooling. A high level ice climber this was a logical next step. For 6 years myself and Jeff Mercier organised one of the first national dry tooling meets and competition with the aim to start to bring the community of dry-tooling practitioners together and to develop the sport.
Today what drives me is to find new lines to open. Whether it be in the high mountains in France or in one of the other great ranges of the world, climbing on rock, ice or a mix int is exploration and the challenge of the unknown that drives me
“To reach a summit by a new way and share it with friends, remains for me the greatest joy in life ”
